Discovered one of the world’s largest deposits of gold, silver, and copper, which was called “Alpala”. Its development may take up to 66 years.
This was reported by the EFE agency with reference to the information of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy Sources, Hydrocarbons, and the Mining Industry of Ecuador.
The deposit was found in the northern province of Imbabura in Ecuador as part of the Cascabel project. In the world ranking, it can take the first line in the amount of silver, as well as become the third in gold reserves and the sixth in the number of copper in it.
Now experts are assessing the discovered reserves of precious metals and cite figures of 10.9 million tons of copper and more than 23 million ounces of gold. Thus, the development of “Alpala” can take place over 49-66 years.
